Vacuum leak?!
I think i have a vacuum leak in my 97 sportster 1200 cv carb anybody have good suggestions how to narrow it down? I think it's from the intake gaskets going into the cylinders, I changed the one between the air flier and carb. My bike sounds like it coughs or shoots out air from the air filter area when I accelerate usually leaving a slight lag in acceleration thanks for any help in advanced it's appreciated.

On a 20 year old bike, I would definitely change the seals for the manifold/head connection. Be sure to use some red grease on the seals and don't do the final tightening of the flange bolts until you have the carb in place and aligned properly, so the manifold can move into place, then tighten the manifold flange bolts. It's a really easy job, the bolts are only about 10 ft. lbs. or less, easy to remove. My 1991 acted like that, and changing the seals and a new carb kit/jetting makes the bike run like new. Better than new.
