My Sportster is a 2003 883 and I want to put highway pegs on it. I have one on the left side that was on the bike but the right side has the exhaust coming out in that area.
Any advice
I just put a set of the Harley Adjustable Highway Pegs on my wifes '07 1200 Low last night. They should fit on her bike about the same as the correct set for the '03s do. They were easy to install. We have her's adjusted on the setting that brings the pegs closest to her. She's very petite and that setting allowed her to have a little bend in her knees. She could also rest her feet on top of them and have her legs straight if she wanted. They're not cheap, but I guess they are worth the price when you think about how much more comfortable they will be. I ordered a highway peg kit from Iron City Cycles that came with the highway bars and pegs for $100, but they were backordered with no estimated time of arrival. I found another place that sold the same kit and they were backordered as well. The wife said she didn't want to do any more long rides until she got some highway pegs, which is understandable, so we went with the Harley set. If you go with the Harley setup, you will need to buy another set of pegs for them since they don't come with pegs already. My wife and sister both have the Harley setup and they look really nice on the bikes.
You should have no problems putting one on the right side by the exhaust. Now you'll just need to find someone with a spare set of highway pegs/mounts that they'll get rid of cheap or you could always buy new H-D (Hundred-Dollar). I have a set sitting down in my box of left over parts. I had this set on my bike when I had mid-controls. Then I went to forward controls and just threw the parts in a spare parts box with the instructions (& other parts).
I see you're from Wooster, OH. I'm just down in Wheeling, WV, and my family & I make several trips up that way during the summer to camp over Loudenville/Danville. We could meet for a ride or to swapparts. Actually, my father and nephew are up there right now camping.
Would these adjustable pegs fit on a sportster with an engine guard? I would not want them on the engine guard, I would want them mounted in the holes that the forward controls would go in.
I am still wanting to get these highway pegs for my bike as we are doing alot of longer rides this summer, but I still wanted to know if anyone has these on there bike with an engine guard? thanks
