Rear Shocks
Original rear shocks on a 2004, 883 Custom.
How do you test them to see if they are needing to be rebuilt?
If you had to rebuild them, would you replace them instead?
180 LBS, riding one up. mostly in town.
Ride seems smooth enough, but safety is always important.

They are simple oil filled gas shocks. If they aren't leaking, and the spring isn't broken, they are still good. With that said, oil will break down over time, and the spring will soften as well. They are not meant to be rebuilt.
Replacement is the best option if you are not satisfied with them.

Was only worried about the age of the shocks..
No leaks and everything seems to be as it should..
