Default Boot laces tangled up

For those of you that wear lace up boots, did the laces ever get tangled in the shifter or brake controls?

My boots are ankle high, so now when I tie them I stuff the laces into the side of the boot. I got tangled once and it was at a stop light, I paniced and was able to pull my foot loose and hold the bike up.

I haven't had my boot laces get tangled, but I have had my pant legs get caught on the peg. Same deal, at a stop light, started to panic and it finally came loose in time to hold up the bike. I decided on getting a 1200C for the forward controls because of that. More room to get the feet down, less crap to get tangled in while doing it.

I have had it happen with the laces but never the pant legs.I think it is funny that you got forward controls to solve that problem. The reason I say that is I almost never see a rider with forward controls actually stop.I always figured that is because they had to move their legs to far to actualy stop the bike at a stop sign.I have seen them stop at red lights because they had no choice.

Complete stop at every sign and every light. I had a cop take a disliking to me when I lived in FL a while back and liked to bust me as often as possible for litterally nothing. Then he'd hand me a ticket for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. I don't leave it to chance anymore. I try not to give an excuse for them to look my way.

I have forward controls and have had my pant leg get caught. Kinda scarry for a sec but have always managed to get it free. I usually wear 8" boots and keep the laces short.

I had my laces hang up on the goofy little "feelers" on the bottom of the pegs on my 883L twice so I pulled the useless little devices off the pegs and haven't hung them again.

My boots lace all the way up, but also have zippers on the sides so I never have to untie them. They are double-knotted and tucked in behind the criss-crossed laces, so I never have any problems.

I bought a pair of Kochmann Scout boots and one of the reasons was the lace snaggingthing. It's bad enough getting them snagged on the pegs, but my concern was getting them snagged on something during a slide down the asphalt. The Scouts have avelcro strap that covers the laces at the top, plus it makes the boot more secure. Although these boots are fairly expensive, I have never regretted buying them.

I haven't had that problem, but I agree with DaveJ. Double knot & tuck them in behind your criss-crossed laces.

No problem with laces, but with pant legs .. now that you mention it, I'll have to make sure my laces are tucked in. I never had a problem at all with either on my last bike (Suzuki Intruder) so I thought it was the position of the pegs on my 883 ... but now some of you say you have the problem with forward controls. Odd.
