Every once in a while, I get the bug to trade in the Sportster 1200 for something bigger. Road Glide, Street Glide, Switchback etc.
What do you do when the bug bites? It mainly happens when riding 2-up with my wife.
When I lived in Atlanta there were 4 or 5 different Harley Dealers in the Metro area. They each had some sort of HOG/Dealership sponsored "Ride the new Harley's for the year" day. I spent the entire day riding every new model at the participating Dealerships (sans the V-Rod.... Never had any interest). It cured my need for needing a new bike. Each one of them had their pro's and cons, but the bike I rode there that day ended up being my choice to ride home
Although... There was this CVO 110 Softail Springer that made me wanna' go all in and bet the farm. It was the sweetest bike I ever rode up to that point. But when reality set in and I saw the OTD price, my woody vanished just about as fast as I did!
Can't blame you for two up riding. Sold my beloved 09 orange and black nightster for a switchback. Had a great time with it though, two years and 20,000 miles. Then we got married and traded it in for two sporties. Had a streetbob as well for a little while, nice bikes but something about a Sportster for me.
I traded my 06' 1200custom last year for my 17' lowrider. Don't get me wrong, I do not regret it. However I do miss the sporty and wished I could have afforded to keep it. But three Harley's wouldn't work lol
Well I always believe that the itch to upgrade your bike to something bigger could be done through performance mods. Big bore kits and other fun stuff comes to mind.
Every time I think about a bigger bike, I think about those years of payments for the bike I want versus the money not spent on the bike I own. My Tallulah has lots of life left in her, and she does what I need and (for the most part) what I want. So, whenever I get the bug, I try to remind myself that I'm blessed with what I already have.
