Default Shifting Issue?

I have a 2000 883 Sport with the 1200 kit in it. Sometimes when I shift from first to Neutral it gets stuck in neutral. Sometimes when I shift down from 2nd to first I get a clanking noise. I've changed the fluids, and checked the chain tension. I have forward controls. Any recommendations? I talked to a guy at redline and he made it sound like this is fairly common for sportsters.

You could try adjusting the clutch, and make sure the linkage for your forward controls are adjusted and shift when the revs are low. Mine never gets stuck in neutral.

Wink

My long-standing technique for changing gear is to take out any slack in the gear-change lever before starting the gear change, that way you should only get a neat and slick change. If there is a lot of slop, as there can be with an older bike, then upgrade all the links. I swapped the original linkage rod on my Glide for one with spherical swivels, which has transformed it, also replaced the front pivot bushings.
