According to the web, they claim "a high-flow washable filter element that does not require oiling", I assume either K&N filter cleaner or soapy water will do, you don't need air filter oil.

From what I've read, the SE filter can be washed with a mild soap (and your wifes toothbrush?)up to 3 times. After that they seem to get holes in them and have to be replaced. Do not oil the filter. I've never figured out why K&N hasn't come out with a filter to fit the later model SE cans.

I just cleaned minecouple days ago in a bucket with soapy water then rinsed with hose and let dry overnight. It came pretty clean except for the bottom which was soaked with oil from the breather vents. Got over 7500 miles on this filter and its in pretty good shape (no holes). I can seea Ness or K&N in the near future though.

Just for giggles, I put mine in the dishwasher once (sans dishes)......I usually use a bucket and some soap and air dry it.....I was going to buy a new one so I just wanted to see what it would do....it looked so clean I put it back in.....that was my last oil change 1,300 miles ago. lol Not sure if I'd try it again, though....

Using a soapy solution with warm water will not harm your paper filter when needed to clean it up. The important thing is not to abrase the filter material. Using a hard bristle brush will cause the material to tear. Air dry it or, blow dry it with moderate amounts of air pressure to avoid tearing.

DRAG makes a drop-in air filter..has the surgical cotton and oil. In the Fat Book. It is on page 330 of the 2007 Drag Specialties Fat Book I have one on my 06 883L. K&N didn't have one for the SE setup, DRAG did. Oil recharger on 1141 of the Fat Book...
