Need some input. I have a 98 sportster 1200 that wont start. The odometer reset itself, blinkers wont flash but do turn on, hazards flash, horn stopped working, wont crank, tried to push start with no luck. New battery, new voltage regulator. Any ideas?
I don't know your bike but you have reeled off numerous electrical faults.
I would think starting with just getting the horn working would take you a long way to resolving the problem.
The fact the bike won't start I would think is the least of your worries.
Sounds like you have different issues....I would start with fuse and connections. Horn stopped working and won't crank sound like a bad ground but could be other things....need to begin eliminating possibilities.
Since your TS turn on but do not flash but your hazards flash, perhaps a bad flasher relay for the TS if you have two flashers (one for TS and one for hazard). If you have only one flasher relay, then probably a different issue.
Check your ground cables, as I remember there are a couple (maybe even 3) of them on the 98 Sporty's. Not just the ground cable to the battery, check and clean where it attaches to the frame.
