Does anyone know where to get "OEM Type" black extended cable for the clutch, throttle and idle? I don't want to go with stainless steel, but that is all I can seem to find.
You might check with your dealer... The one here sells new pulloff parts at 50% of retail... If you put miniapes on similar to the street bob they may have cables from one that would work... measure what length yours will need, and then measure a new dyna...
Barrnette will make a black custom size cable for you. can make and ship in 2 days if you pay the extra $8.00 for a rush order I used them for my 06 Bobber when converting to 13" apes. Get your HD dealer to orderit for you cause they only sell to dealers.
You can also get em from www.denniskirk.com I did and they ended up being cheaper and had all I needed in stock (of course mine are braided SS since I could not find the all black braided ones)
Does anyone know a good source for custom (different lengths) stainless lines. I looked at that Dennis Kirk site. I kinda want I fixed terminal block below the trible, but the only thing I could find there was "fits stock", but then your upper piece was availible in differnt lengths for different apes. My problem is my forks are exteded 4" and have one long line that is rubbing a couple things. Same goes for my clutch cable.
The DK site is kinda hard to find what ya want when it comes to cables as the catalog is easier. You can get dang near whatever length you want for brakes, clutch, throttle from them from 1" increments in some casesto 4,6,8 or more. I'm assumming since you mentioned the you want a fixed terminal block that you've got duals up front.
Should not be a problem but you need to be looking at the components to build the line exactly like you want from the resevoir with the angle banjo fittings you want to the Tee then branched out down to the caliper with banjo fittings.
There are tons of sources out there but you have to know what you want after measuring the exact length. You'll need upper and lower banjo fittings with the appropriate anglesand bolts (can re-use your old bolts if you want) if you've got dual brakes then you will probably need 12mm as the single disc setups use 10mm and of course if dual you'll need the Tee and branch lines. Its next to impossible to get those one piecelines exactly the wayyou want which is why its necessary to build the line. You might also checkout www.discountcycleparts.com and reference the Drag Specialities or Custom Chrome catalogs to get the part numbers you need to find the pricing. Also don't try to just go by the lines that say +4,6,8 and such, with your bars and risers on measure using tubing or a cord the exact roune you want the cable to take (factoring in your fork compress and rebound of course so as not to be too tight) and this will give the cable length then factor in that each fitting will add approx 2-3". If you take the measurement for its length and forgot the added length of the fitting you might end up too long.
Thanks Capt. Some good info there. I was thinking the thing/s you said about a cord to test and measure. But here's what I want and just have never seen before. Also, I have just the single disc. I would like the terminl block below the Triple, then "Hard" stainless break line down to the Caliper. That may be something I would have to have made locally due to the length and flange. Then it should be pretty easy to figure the right length from the grip down to the triple? I just don't know where to find these components. I'll try the sources you said and order a catalogue.
Providing you can get a hard line setup made the way you want it cant be from the lower triple down to the caliper only about midway like a stocklinedue to the compression and rebound of the forks as it has to be flexible to ride up and down with the fork travel. You could always just find a local indy that has the ability to make what you want or just have them order it made through Barnett.
I am looking to replace the stock front brake line on my 93 sporty because I put drag bars on, I want to remove the slolid parts of the line, and have flexible steel braided line for that, and also replace the rear with it, any ideas of the best place to buy??
