883 not turning over???

Hi all. My wife's 97 is not turning over. It ran about a month ago. Starter is about a year old. It has a new battery with 12.8 volts. All the lights and horn work. The starter relay clicks when I push the starter button. If I hit the kill switch it doesn't click. Using a multi meter it seems to have power at the two big terminals on the end of the starter. I think I can see a small wire at the bottom, maybe green, not sure. Is this the one that makes the power connect? Or what else could be wrong? I appreciate any help.

Can you bypass the solenoid and put power directly to the starter?

Could be a stuck or bad solenoid.

Jump from the battery to the large terminal on the starter, hot side?

Well the problem turned out to be the starter or solenoid or both. I jumped it and nothing. So I pulled it out. Not a fun job in the driveway. I had another used one in the garage. So I dug it out and put it in. It is not completely back together but it does turn over now.
