Once running, throttle up to test rpm 2000 (or fast idle) Voltage should rise to above 13 and stay below 15 even if revved 3-4K.

If it passes that, stator, regulator, and battery are fine.
So today I checked my connections they are all tight. No corrosion or anything. Battery read 12.5-12.67 volts. Started the bike 3 different times. 1st time voltage read 10.6 2nd time it read 11.6 third time it was 9.61. After start voltage sat at a steady 13.5-13.6 volts. Revved the bike and it stayed between 13.7 and got as I as 14 volts. It started raining so I put it back in the shed and will wait till it stops. So with what you have told me @RIPSAW the battery rectifier and state are doing it's jobs. Will take it in on my way to work tomorrow and have them load test it. Wasn't able to make it that far today. Thanks again for your advice.

That 1st-time voltage 10.6 2nd time it11.6 and third time 9.61 is as good as mine does on a new battery. Probably better load test then you are going to get anywhere. Not my last battery but the one before that, I was getting a lot of starter bang, kick back and grunts before cranking. I tried twice having a charged load test. Even took it to two places second time. There, they admitted their tester did not like small batteries. Everyone said it was OK which is funny.

Since then, if it's not acting right, I charge it good, meter reads below 10 or so, I just get a battery at Walmart. They seem to last me about 4 years. Mine wants to shake loose.

Their bike AMG sealed for a Softail is made in China. Their car batteries can't be beat. I own 4 of them. Most last about 5 years. Couple have gone 7.

@RIPSAW so I charged the battery didn't get it load tested cause ibcouldnt get toothed dealer before they closed. Took it for a 1.5 hour ride today. Bike didn't act up till after I stopped filled it up. Went over a speed bump then 5 minutes later acted like I lost power speedo went to 0 and back to 45. Did it again also after I down shifted to get more power to accelerate to get over. Then a mile away from my house in natural at a stop light the cel and battery light came on. I'm thinking my battery is done. But I won't ride it till Thursday when I take it for its service. Just figured I'd keep you in the loop since you've been a great help. Thanks and happy Memorial Day to all
