just joined and thought Id say hello. And of course I have a question. Ive just bought a 2006 883R and the neutral lights not working. Ive checked the neutral switch by the font pulley and it works fine. If I ground out the switch lead to the dash lights I don't get any light on the dash. I took the dash apart and there seems to be an LED strip in there instead of bulbs. Is this right or has someone changed the bulb unit out? If so does anyone know where I could get a new led strip as it really bloody annoying as everything else is perfect with the bike
cheers

Did you ohm check/test the continuity on the wire from the neutral switch to the instrument cluster to see if its open/broken somewhere? I believe it goes to pin 4 on the cluster plug.
No I havent. Ran out of time but I think it must be ok as if I unplug the wire the starter wont turn so it must be getting a feed through the wire. No?
So went out to the workshop and had another look. Theres a wire that runs from the sensor by the front pulley into a black finned black box at the front of the frame. Guessing reg/rec. theres then three other banks of wires in plastic sleeves which run out and without stripping it all down I have no idea which one runs to the neutral light.
Little bit of an update. I checked the on board diagnosis and it came up with the clutch switch grounding error. Everything else was fine. Took the switch gear assembly apart and the switch is knackered. Fallen apart. Ill pop in and get a new one tomorrow. Im thinking as it was a grounding error this may sort my neutral light problem. What you think?
New clutch switch fitted today and it now starts in gear no problem. But still no neutral light. Checked the neutral switch wire to ground to see if it lights up and no light . Bloody thing. 🙄
I know its not a big issue but Im a bit OCD with my bikes and I like things to work as they should.
