How do I install Muffler interconnect bracket??

The prior owner of my 2006 Sportster removed the muffler interconnect bracket. I got another one and it should be a simple install but it appears as though the rear brake tie rod has to go threw it. If this is the case how do I remove one end of that tie rod? The rear portion has a small pin that can be removed but that still leaves a very large pin that doesn’t seem to be able to be removed. Is there an easier way, perhaps removing the brake pedal??

Yes the brake rod needs to come off at the back to get the bracket in position for the screws that hold the interconnect bracket to the crankcase.

That rose joint / screw is a torx T30. You can leave the rod connected at the lever end.

The pin with retaining ring is for the cylinder push rod and doesn't need to be touched.

That all looks to be a very clean 2006 bike.
