It's not in the VIN number and I don't think there is another sticker anywhere that gives a color code.
Looking at the color rite site I'd say it's the real red pearl, the lava red looks more orange to me. Worst case the touch up pens are only 15 bucks I guess you could order one of each and see which one matches.
Try calling a dealer, they may have a paint wheel that you can hold up to your bike or maybe can punch the VIN number into the Harley system and see what color it was painted.
When I look up my VIN on the Harley SIP site, then click Vehicle Information (four lines to the right) above the picture of my model (in the wrong color) it shows my bikes color number. https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....cle/lookupForm
COLOR 598
Searching for that "color 598" without the quotes, using the search at the top right of the SIP page, brings up the 2013 Model Year Painted parts catalog, it downloads a PDF file.
In the file it shows the correct paint color for my bike- Candy Orange / Beer Bottle-
XL1200C (598): CANDY ORANGE (2-TONE) TANK COLOR: CANDY ORANGE (2-TONE) PANEL COLOR 2-TONE: BEER BOTTLE INSIDE STRIPE: .12 MEDIUM RED
OUTSIDE STRIPE: .06 PALE GOLD FUEL TANK ASM: 61000002DPW FRONT FENDER: 60955-13DPW REAR FENDER DOMESTIC: 59885-13DPW

I'm inclined to agree with Real Red Pearl . Lava red seems to be more Maroon in pictures I've seen online . The orange colour option is described as Racing Orange but I've never seen an XL1200 R in orange . It all depends on the light and the way the image was processed . I'll try my local HD dealership at the weekend .
Great thread. I have seen 3 different kinds of Red here overseas. I ended up choosing a dark maroon looking color.
I also do not know the exact color of this one. Photo attached if I can manage it........ Info here in the Philippines is difficult to get clearly.

Hello old chap. Be aware that Harley exported that model for many years after they stopped selling it in the USA, so that colour may never have been sold over there. Go to the H-D website, use the Owners tab, where you can enter your VIN and get colour details etc for your bike.
^+1...and it's the only color that the side covers match, I don't know why but the black side covers drive me nuts on bikes that aren't black.
It's never occurred to me until you mentioned it. Maybe it's because most of the old Triumph Bonnevilles also had black side covers and oil tanks . I suppose I could paint it one day .
Yes, I tried the chrome wingtips for a couple of years but eventually had to break down and order some Pacific Blue Pearl in a rattle can and paint them to match.
