I have the same lift as VAFISH. Works like a charm. I also use that lift on my riding mower, and both quads. Just used it Yesterday to lift the front of one quad to do the alignment. Worth every penny, especially since it was a Christmas present from my son and daughter in law.
We must live in a parallel universe or something. Same bike, same shocks (and other mods), same bike lift.
My son gave me my lift for Christmas a couple years ago.
Do you have a big twin, also, by chance? My plan is getting one in about a year, a touring model. The best part is my wife said, "I think if you do get a bigger bike, you should keep the sportster, since you always wanted one". Thats why we have been married almost 45 years.
I had a Dyna Low Rider, but sold it. Too close to the Sportster to justify two bikes, and it was older, had more mileage, but was more expensive to insure.
I get that about the Dyna. The guy I bought mine from bought a Dyna, and wasn't impressed a lot with the difference. I see them as a big twin Sportster.
Make sure you put something under the rear tire before you pull the other shock off
Yeah, like the ground . No need for wedges , just raise or lower the bike on the lift until the holes line up . Easy to to do by fractions of an inch if you have a scissor jack style lift .
I just raised or lowered my hyd jack. Not worried about a collapse when I am right there with it, and it only takes a few seconds to get the bolts started.
