Hi guys long time no post, so I found (what I think anyway) to be a killer deal on a 2007 Nightster here locally... I can get it trailered to my door done deal for $3500 bucks cash. The bike has 14 Roland Sands King Ape bars on it, Curvado Drag Pipes, and some other basic customizations.. some of which I would keep and some I would change (for instance the bobber style seat, which I have never ridden in before but would assume is pretty annoying for more than just bar hopping. I included a couple pictures for reference.
Anyway the reason for the post is that I have always been traditionally a bagger guy, I had a new Road Glide, and most recently a Road King. Loved them both and sure did listen to music a lot and all that.. but in 8 years, took 0 long distance rides, lol. Sounds great in concept, but Im reality just never happens for me. So anyway I am interested in this Nightster having literally never even ridden a sportster of any kind before. Thoughts? Is it like night and day difference, not going to like it at all type of deal, or am I gonna learn to love it? Is the Nightster in general (a 2007) a decent bike? Would love to hear some opinions and such.
How many miles on bike & any maint/upgrade history/records available fm PO?
IMO...that bike looks pretty "hatcheted" up and could be one headache passing off to you. When I look for used bikes, like to see them pretty much stock so you kinda have a sense of what you're getting yourself into. Heavily modded bikes can be an a$$-pain of troubles.
I agree with iceman, I'd look for something well cared for and closer to stock, that one might be fine...but it might not be, especially if you can't ride it before buying.
I did the same when shopping for a Dodge diesel truck, any trucks with chips and/or lift kits I passed right over, finally found a totally stock one with low mileage and it never gave me one problem, don't be in a rush or you'll end up with someone elses problem.
I'm not a fan of the chopped rear fender and missing front fender as I ride in rain fairly often, as I think someone in Seattle would as well.
Those Spring seats are supposed to be pretty comfortable and a lot of folks with hard tails use them as the only rear suspension.
NADA says dealer retail is $3,500-$4,600 in my zip code. I would put that bike to the lower end, and that's retail from a dealer. IF that is the style bike you want then it's not too bad of a deal. It would have to be $2,500 or less for me to consider it, but it's not a style of bike I want very badly.

Thanks for the input, just out of curiosity, why would you put it at the lower end? Not disagreeing with you by any means, I dont know enough to have an opinion I guess, however I know the bars and the exhaust are pretty high end, all the work was done at Harley, and the bike runs and drives great. Why not mid to high end of that range? Is it just because it isn't stock? Thanks again

Yeah the bike as 11k miles on it, and all (or most) work was done at Harley.. with records yes.
I get your point point and I feel the same way to be honest its just tough because literally the first thing I would do to an all stock anything would be bars and an exhaust, lol. I figured for 3500 bucks how could I go wrong but maybe that is just naive 😂
