Default Bad Voltage Regulator?

The last couple times I've ridden after dark I noticed something wierd happening with my lights. The lights will dim a for about 5 seconds then get bright again for about 15 seconds. This happens continuously. I do not have a problem starting the bike so I know the battery is getting charged. Makes me wonder if the voltage regulator Is going bad. I've seen people mention an issue with Harleys Voltage Regulators lately on this forum. I do not have a pulsating light module on the headlight nor do I have any leads or additional electrical components attached to the bike. I also have verified that the battery terminals are tight.

The bike is a 2016 XL883L.

Let me know what your thoughts are.

Try taking the regulator off, clean the grounding surfaces off with scotch brite then put thin star washers between the regulator and mounting surface. Could be a grounding issue. Worked on my 2005 883 low

Yes, regulator is overcharging the system

If it was overcharging, why would the lights dim? Wouldn't it be under charging?

Stator produces AC to the regulator. The regulator converts AC to DC to charge the battery. It has nothing to do with the lights as the regulator is normally connected directly to the battery. Perhaps an electrical issue related to your lights. If it were a grounding issue, your lights would go off completely and turn on again...not dim. What is the voltage reading on the battery? Perhaps a relay?

Check voltage at the battery. Sounds like another issue to me too.
