Default Am I doing something wrong?

Whenever I ride more than half an hour, I start losing feeling in my throttle hand. If I just release the throttle for a minute, drop my arm, and flex my fingers a few times it goes away.

It's annoying, though.

Am I doing something wrong with my grip or arm position?

Try loosening your grip on the bars.

Is this at highway speed or lower speeds when the vibrations are increased?

Gloves with some padding in the palm area will help

I swapped my grips a while back to larger diameter grips which helped my fatigue in my hands

Also, don't have a death grip on the bars.

ha ha, not sure about anyone else but that happens to me as well. I took a 3hr ride to the coast a few weeks back, going about 60mph the whole way. I can only go about an hour before i have to pull over and shake that arm out. My fingers go so numb i cant even feel them at that point. When i pull over i have to shake my hand out for at least 5 minutes cause all i have is pins and needles in my hand. I thought it was because i dont have a rubber mount engine (2001) but my friend just bought a 2005 sportster and asked me today "hey man does your throttle hand go numb after about 30 minutes of solid riding?" so i now know its not that. Only way out of it is to get a throttle lock so you can shake your hand out once in a while. Ive also found that if i let the weight off my hands a little and practice relaxing my grip that helps too. I have to keep reminding myself over and over to relax my grip, and pull my weight back on my seat, possibly its cause of my drag bars making me put weight on them.

Yeah, sounds like a case of death grip. But you may also want to check out the Kuryakyn ISO grips with the Throttle Boss.

A few things can create that. The clothes that you wear, circulation or a pinched nerve. This sounds stupid, but you may want to try some stretching before you ride or do some excersises before you ride. Poor blood flow could be a sign. You may want to get it checked out.

You can also look into what is called a throttle rocker. It is slipped onto the throttle grip and you control your speed with the palm of your hand instead of having to hold tightly onto the grip. It attaches to the outer edge of the grip. Only a few dollers and great on long rides.

Some hand exercises and a throttle rocker; sounds like a plan, man!
