Default Throttle cable replacements

My throttle cables seem to be stretched to the point the adjustment barely keeps them snug. Looking online at the HD website, I cannot find throttle cables. As far as I know mine are stock with stock bars, so how do I know what to get?

Looking at aftermarket they seem about $20-22 each. What would a dealer charge? Any idea?

You may simply have a routing problem. If you have the FSM take a look to see if it shows the cables and where they run. We seem to get countless threads around HDF on changing to higher bars, without changing to longer cables, so it is reasonable to assume you and your bike really should be just fine!

If you go to MAGNUM's website you can cross reference your bike and the chart will indicate what size is stock.

I had to wait a week at the dealer and didn't even end up getting the same part.

Just measure it and order em on-line!

Don't forget to put the rubber boots on🤪.

I was hoping to not have to take them off to measure, as it means pulling the tank, and that equals more down time. I try to avoid doing everything twice. May not have a choice this time.

Do you measure the housing or just the cable inside?

GR
I will take a look to be sure.

Different manufacturers use different ways to measure.
Common practice is just the carburetor end to where the sheath ends not the adjuster.

You sure you are adjusting them the right way? Just did mine this weekend after installing new grips, winged it and then read the FSM ...the procedure is not what I'd guessed and I had to redo them. The EFI throttle cables have so little force on them I'd be surprised if they stretched much if at all.
Anway the moral of the story for me was to RTFM every time AND not to rely on YouTube videos...plenty of really sharp YT posters however some exude confidence but don't know WTF they are talking about.

Well, no. After looking at the FSM I guess I am not. Currently camping at Clios RV park near Graeagle, Ca. Here for a week, so will check that out when I get home. Never would have thought I needed an FSM to adjust a cable, hope thats all it takes.

Have you tried finding them on the OEM parts finder microfish at Ronnies HD?
