Well guys, just figured I would come back and let you know I picked up a very nice 06 Uly with 26,000 miles last Friday.
Now all I need to do is figure out how to touch the ground.

Thanks for all of your input.
Jolly well done! I've had a new Firebolt XB9R and currently an XB12R from new and done around 50k miles or so on them . Can't comment on the Uly, but love the ones I've had.
I had two, XB and 1125R, loved both of them. The 2008 1125R was sold because my driving privilege was about to be lost due to my inability to control my right hand.
I do believe the motor company made a error dropping the line.

Just my opinion!
I agree entirely, however they were also very unwise in so many ways. All the alloy framed bikes had their frame, suspension, wheels, brakes, controls and electrics made in Italy, so were subject to fluctuations in exchange rates between dollars and euros. The later 1125 and 1190 models also had imported engines, so almost all the parts for those models were made overseas. I've ridden past their factory, which was simply an industrial unit and didn't look very big, I suspect it was simply an assembly line. Their error was more one of making so little of each bike locally, to give them closer control of manufacturing costs IMHO.
To your original question, cacomly on this site, rides a sporty EVERYWHERE and got 200k on his first engine, till he ruined it dropping something in the oil that plugged the oil pump. Now has an ebay engine on it with over 228k on the bike total. They guy rides a LOT.
So taken care of you get a lot of miles from a sportster engine.
