Default Looking at Buell

Can any of you Buell riders tell me what expected life would be from a 06' Ulysses? Looking at one with 60,000 and wondering how much life is left. Been serviced every 3,000 since new.

Had an 09 that I traded another bike for. Can't tell you the longevity but this will give you the differences/changes by model year.

It's really no different from a Sportster in terms of longevity. Almost the same motor.

OK, so what's a Sportster longevity?

A long time....

Well cared for that Uly should be able to double that mileage easy. They also no more expensive to rebuild than a Sportster.
That being said, with 60k on the clock I would expect a near give-away sales price on that bike. Any more than $2500, tops, and I'd just look for a lower mile bike.

I've owned 4 Buells and they were all GREAT bikes. I'd have no reservations about a high mile bike if the price was right.

Thanks, price is 2600 and this is the add:

"This Buell is in incredible condition and very well taken care of, oil changed every 3,000 with Screaming Eagle full synthetic oil. New tires, race package which includes intake and exhaust. 2 seats, 3 windshields, stock exhaust and intake, hard bags and trunk and tank bag along with other misc parts. Complete service records".

Sorry can’t help with the longevity part, but I will share my thoughts on the bike. I had one for a while, ‘06 as well. The bike rode great, plenty of power/torque, comfortable to ride, and still pretty sporty(especially if I took the panniers off for a ride). The one thing I didn’t like about it, and probably the reason I ultimately got rid of it was the amount of heat off the rear cylinder. If you’re cruising on the freeway or on open back roads it isn’t too bad, but if you’re in any stop and go traffic, especially in summer it will roast your right thigh. Too bad because it was an awesome bike otherwise.

You can still get a right side air scoop for them that channels air directly to that rear cylinder. All my Buells had one and it helps considerably with heat. None of mine I'd have called worse than 'moderate', even on the worst of days, with that mod.

I have heard a LOT of complaints about that though with the Uly. Not sure if there's something specific to those that causes excessive heat. They have the same engine/frame/airbox as all other XB models so maybe it's something with the tail section that prevents proper air movement???

BTW to the OP: If you're in the market for a Buell, avoid 07 models. Before or after is fine but Buell received a bad batch of cranks that worked themselves into 07 models. The problem was short lived but still managed to affect a good number of 07's. 06's were fine and 08's got a new, much stronger design crank.

we both know that can not be answered. I wouldn’t pay a whole lot for an 06 with 60k rds. Good luck and have fun, they are fun bikes.
