Default Electrical issues

After replace my stator and clutch, my 2008 883xl will not start. Checked the amp draw on the first battery and it was low, which makes sense since I had to ride home on the bad stator. New battery in, all lights kick on, fuel injectors prime, the bike doesn’t turnover. It clicks once and that’s all it gives. No check engine lights. I was very thorough with replacing the clutch and stator, followed the manual to the T. Any ideas on trouble shooting would be a great help.

Check the battery’s ground even if it looks good. The grounding is an age-old problem with Sportsters. Clean cable ends and snug down tightly. Use of dielectric grease also a good idea.

And be sure to check both ends of the cables, not just at the battery.

Sorry for the late response, have confirmed that it is not a connection issue. Pulled the cover and made sure nothing was scraping and the starter sprocket connects. All cables are secured, not a bad ground. Everything is tight, nothing is loose connection wise. The battery was reading low again, so gonna charge over night, but will probably be returning the battery for a 3rd try.

check all fuses and relays as well. They had a problem corroding on 08s. Located right next to the battery. Clean fuses/relays and terminals.

They appear to have silver plated terminals that will go black with age. My partner had a relay fail on her '08.

Tried a 4th battery, after being in for 5 minutes while trying to start the bike. The starter engages, but doesn’t have enough power to turn the motor over in neutral. The battery was out of the box at 13.89Vac and is now at 12.59Vac. The starter drive shaft would get stuck, and was hard to push back when it engaged. This all started with a simple clutch and stator swap.

Bad stator killed the voltage regulator and the first battery.
