Anyone noticed yet that there is no response from the OP ? I bet they are having a good laugh at all this nonsense . Either that or they are too embarrassed to reply .
Someone said listen to your bike. They are spot on. Tach means nothing other than something to look at and the manuals recommended bogus shift points. Ride by feel and sound.
Ya, feel and sound. Definitely dont go by some random tach tossing out actual correct information lmao
I dont think it was a silly question. I would also like to know as I have a sportster now and again In 5th gear what should the rpm be at 60 mph, 70 mph and 75 mph. i have been on this forum a long time and i am not a troll. I just would like a straight forward answer not just put tape on the tach or just ride it. I have seen that chart but i dont understand it so could I just get a straight forward answer please

But everyone is missing the point . You don't ride to the tach , you ride to the speedometer . If you are at 50 mph in 4th gear the revs are WHATEVER THEY HAPPEN TO BE . What the OP meant , assuming this is a genuine question and not pointless troll post , is WHAT GEAR SHOULD I BE IN at 45 - 50 mph ? Well I would say 4th . If they enjoy juddering vibration and poor acceleration then knock yourself out and shift into 5th .
What rpm at certain speeds depend if you are riding an 883 or a 1200. They are geared different. On a late 883 at 70 you will be at 4000 rpm in 5th. On a 1200 you will be around 3400 rpm. That's if you are riding bikes for the American market. Europe bikes can be different.
And when cruising no matter what gear you should stay at a mim 3000 rpm so you don't lug it.

i dont have speedometers on any of my bikes. Lots of people ditch their speedos.
