I spoke to a local perfmorance mechanic who said the kuryakn intakes are some of the best available. I am thinking of buying the hypercharger and he seemed to think it was a good flowing intake. He said kury makes a better one though.. i think it's called thehigh 5 or something like that..
I have one, it was installed on the bike when I purchased it. I like it, but as far as performance gains I don't think there are any. It is more cosmetic than anything. There is a K&N filter inside, and I have also seen them on a Nightster it looked good in black. Here are a couple of pics.
I wonder if the install on a Nightster was a "custom" installation because they don't make one specific for the Nightster. See my post above. ????????????????????????????????????????
edit: never mind, this is from the J&P website........*Note: 2006-07 EFI require drilling the throttle body to make the butterflies function.
I have one on mine. I cant compare it performance wise but mine does have a k&n in it and works well. I have taken it through a little rain with no problems but I did let it sit for a while afterwards to make sure any water on the filter dried off.
personal experience had one took it off . they are a bitch to rejet and dont make as good a numbers as the screaming eagle ac or k&n. when I say a bitch to rejet I mean its hard to get the right jetting it seems to be either rich or lean never a happy medium.
Purely anecdotal, and I know this has been done to death, but I bought my bike 2nd hand with the SE a/c but changed to the hypercharger a few months after I bought it. I noticed an improvement in my bike. To me it felt like the throttle response was faster and more powerful. Take that FWIW.
