Various States are changing their laws and requiring new riders to complete an approved MotorcycleSafety Course before they will be issued a Motorcycle Endorsement.
Florida is taking it one step further.
Beginning in July of 2008, in Florida you will need to complete an approved Motorcyle Safety Course before you can get a Motorcycle Endorsement, AND, you will not be able to purchase/register a motorcycle unless you have a valid Motorcycle Endorsement.
(See Below)
320.02(1) Effective July 1, 2008, a motorcycle, motor driven cycle or moped registration may not be issued unless the registrant has a
motorcycle endorsement on their driver license.

endorsement must show proof of completion of the motorcycle safety course.
I just took the class about 2 months ago. I learned alot in that class and it has already helped me. I'm planning on taking the intermediate class at some point too.
You will enjoy the class. I'll echo the statements about it being worth the time and the money. It has saved my butt a couple times in the 5+ years that I have been riding my own bike.
Wife loved the class, she said that it was the best thing I ever bought her. She grinned the whold 4 days. She has been riding ever since. She practises every chance she gets. She says it gives her the confidence she needs. Enjoy.
Well got home late last night from the first class. All text book stuff, and some videos. Learned a bunch already, although I had some core knowledge from seeing friends ride etc... The teacher was a big harley fan, been riding for like 42 years. He was happy to hear I bought a Harley and I had the common sense to go to class before just jumping on it. Sat morning is the 1st range day, I cant wait!! We also have the written test on SAT. So, I have to finish studying the book they gave us... since we only got through 60% or so of it.
