Default 2 plugs under side cover?

dNew here!

Just bought my wife a 2007 XL 883 Low, she is learning to ride and taking the MSF coarse next week.

This is the first HarleyI have owned but have been riding metrics for years and do most of my own repairs and maintence. I have a 2002 Honda VTX 1800 Retro.

I have a shop manual coming but was wondering if there are any bugs or mods that need to be done to a new Sporty other than a good break in and changing the oil at 1000 miles. I plan on using synthetic after that, not sure if I will use the Harley synthetic or Amsol yet.

One thing I did notice is the 2 plugs under the side cover at the top almost under the seat, what are they for? I figure one is an accessory plug and the other would be for a code reader.

Thanks for the help and this looks like a great site with valuable information.

Sorry, I don't know the 07's with EFI but hang in there. It's riding season & the weekend, most members are probably riding not typing.

I would be to if the bike wasn't in the shop. [:@]

As with most cages the same harness goes in regardless of options, it may be a plug used for the optional security system or possibly as you say a hookup point for a diagnostic computer at the stealership.

To answer your other question. If you want the bike to run and sound like a Harley, you'll need to replace the pipes, and air cleaner with a more open free flowing system. This will also require a remap of the FI system.

Oh, and the Harley syn oil sucks! Amsol is a good choice, as is Mobile 1 V-twin. I've even heard that Harley is going to discontinue their syn oil, and start using Amsol. I don't know if that's true or not.
