Default What is this?

Would someone be so kind as to tell me what this is? I read through the whole owners manual and couldn't find anything about it and I didn't notice it when the salesman and I were going over the bike before I rode it home.

Hard to tell from your picture, but, it appears to be the plug where the digital technician plugs in to. There's a place for this under the right side cover and it must have been jarred loose - be sure the rubber plug that covers it is in place.

So, this shouldn't be hanging out in the open then? Should be inside the side cover?

Plug to the ECM is my vote as well.

It should be tucked under your plastic side panel under the seat.

Yes, hard to tell from your picture, but looks to me like the wiring to plug a battery tenderer to, at least that's where I plug mine to. Like I said, hard to tell from the pic, but that's my .02.

Mine is tucked up in the hole in front on my battery. I agree with Ted its looks like the tech plug.

From the picture it's hard to tell, but if it's kinda square shaped it's to hook up the race tuner (or Tech scan tool) It has a place to be secured under the side cover if you want to put it up. I actually ran mine down like that too to allow easy access for laptop hook-up.
