Default About time to check/replace the spring plate

The bike is pushing 21,000 miles, and after reading about all the spring plate failures I've decided to pull the primary cover and check it out and just replace it. Yes, I'm going with the Alto heavy duty spring plate with the stainless steel rivets, my bike, my choice... Don't judge.

Questions I have are, Harley gaskets ok or should I go with another brand of primary cover gasket? Should I consider changing out the chain tensioner shoe while I'm in there? Is there an oil seal around the shifter shaft, all I see is a bushing on Ronnies. Seems like there should be one... Does the primary case gasket go on dry?

I'm also going to replace the throwout bearing with the NSK 7200BW bearing, I assume I should go ahead and replace all the clips, snap rings etc...? I'm also assuming that when you pull the pressure plate off with the puller you just release the pressure off the spring to disassemble the parts to allow you to replace the throwout bearing?

Obviously from my questions I've never done this before, appreciate any & all advice.

I've had my Primary Cover off twice now and the gasket remained intact and stuck to the engine so I just bolted it back up again . There's not a hint of seepage in several thousand miles .
I chose to fit an Energy One Extra Plate Clutch Kit which squealed a little initially but has now settled down . I saw no need to replace the tensioner shoe or the snap ring . When you see how easily it comes out once the spring is fully compressed you'll realise that it doesn't need replacing . Make sure the snap ring seat is the right way up though . Good luck with it .

Is there an oil seal around the shifter shaft?
Yes there is. I have had to change it on the 2008. Watching a couple of videos they put some tape on the splines of the shaft presumably to stop them from even remotely damaging the seal.

I used James brand primary gasket kit (from Revzilla: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/...ster-1991-2003), great products, no leaks 2,000 miles since clutch rebuild/gasket replacement. Yes, primary case gasket goes on dry. I cleaned mating surfaces with brake cleaner. Gasket may stick to the case or the motor, they're a pain in the *** to remove; I recommend a gasket remover brush thing, makes it a breeze without marring your mating surfaces.

No need to change out tensioner shoe IMO unless it's shot. If the tension adj bolt is bottomed out, then yes, otherwise let it run.

There is a small round square edged rubber gasket on the outside of the shift lever, as well as a spring gasket pressed into the inside of the primary case, it's super easy to pop out and replace with a new one.
