and look at the parts breakout and tell us what you are calling the "accelerator pin" and see what number it is. Then, on the same page look at the list of parts on the bottom half of the page. Scroll down until you reach the number of the part you are calling the "accelerator pin" and then let us know what it is you are actually talking about. Because the only thing that is listed as a "pin" is the hinge pin for the float body that moves up and down as fuel flows into the bottom bowl of the carb.and a couple of really REALLY small cotter pins. If you're talking about the "idle screw" (#17) (which the end looks like the point of a pin) the bike would not idle without it, and if you were talking about the main jet needle (#7) there would be no acceleration or de-acceleration. Once you tell us what the actual name of the part you are talking about, maybe we can help you more.

Right, so you've been riding with a disabled Accelerator Pump . There you go then , that's why the bike falters on acceleration .

Yes you need that pin . Without it the Accelerator Pump dosen't work . When you twist the throttle a cam pushes it down where it actuates a diaphragm causing a jet of raw fuel to squirt from the little brass post in the carb mouth straight into the inlet manifold .

That part is just referred to as a "rod" in my Factory Parts Manual. Accelerator Pump Rod would be a better term. I see it's called that on other carburetors.
