Default Leaky rocker box covers?

Anyone here having this problem now or in the recent past ? I was just reading about this
over at the XLforum & my '06 1200 Custom is going in Thursday 08/02/07 for this problem.
Luckily, I'm still in warranty 'til next May, so this gets done on the MoCo's dime. I hear they're
supposed to have a new improved gasket that will supposedly put a stop to this problem; anyone
here know what that part # may be?
Anyway, I'd to get any & all comments & advice from anyone here who has had or
experienced this problem & how did it work out for you.
Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Leaky rocker box covers?

Roscoe,

I just installed the updated rocker cover seals last night, both the inners and outers, the new style seals are slightly different and even a different color. Mine is a 04 and out of warranty. The newer styleouter gaskets or seals have more meat on them, seem to be a little bittaller. Don't have the part number handy butthe new seals will superceed the old part number at the stealers, the original seals were black, the new ones are a light brown. Still have to put my tank back on but in my case I was getting a "weep" from the RR rocker cover closest to the rear pipe, found the seal it was actually split when I removed it, looks like it may have been that way fromnew, you could see where part of it wasn't even touching the flat side of the rocker cover in a small area, big enough to cause a leak and if driven normal, it didn't seem to show up, if you nailed it often, that's when you would really see it leak.

Good luck,

Gibby
