Question Skid plate

I feel uncomfortable about scraping the obstacles and therefore I am thinking about skid plate.
Yes, I realize that it will decrease ground clearance and make it scrape even more. But then it won't scrape the frame.
I have two questions:
1) Is this plate compatible with engine guard 49287-11 (original round guards) ? I hope so, but better to double check with other's experience, as they are sharing the same two fastening points.
2) Does it add any complications into any regular servicing operations? I mean draining and changing of engine and transmission oils. Good if it is possible to do without removal of skid plate.

When leaning the bike anything directly in line with the wheels will not touch the ground; have you seen some of the racing bikes?

What I have found is the lug that holds the jiffy stand spring is the lowest point and I have scraped that twice now going over sleeping policemen.

The front mount on your guard looks like it uses the same mounting points as the engine guard. The only way that I can see it working is if the skid plate is fitted first.

Racing bikes do not have to cross speed breakers. I scrape jiffy stand lug too, but every time check then, is frame intact.
I have seen such skid plates on sporty dirt builds, but all without engine guards.

There looks to be a cut-out in the skid plate so protection to the jiffy stand.

I am not famailar with the skid plate shown above, so I have no comment about it.

What I used was a skidplate for a Triumph Scrambler and modified it to fit. It matches
the framerails pretty good, but I did notch it for the jiffystand mount.

I like that skid plate.
Even if you have to remove to drain trans and engine oils, that doesn't seem so difficult versus the addition of that nice plate.
Photo in post 5 shows it can mount with crash guards.

Yes, side stand on the left and pipes on the right typically touch ground first while cornering.
Good luck with your decision and installation.

Please post a final install photo for your co-members if you install.

Rusty Butcher. I've had one on my 2017 Iron since about new and maybe 25k miles. Hasn't been an issue yet as far as maintenance goes. Even if it were to get in the way, it's just four bolts.

To be honest, I don't know why I got it, I just wanted it and makes me happy it's there, but I find it hard to believe you're scraping that much unless you're off roading. I've only scraped once (maybe twice) on speed humps I couldn't go around.

We call them sleeping policemen and they go the full width of the road.

The technique is to try and get the front and back wheels on the hump as you go over and that means going at them at an angle. I found out after telling an advanced rider instructor.
