Hi all, I am new on here, bought my first bike/harley a few months ago, its an 01 sportster 1200c. I love the bike. I am having this very irritating problem with my left front blinker. The fronts have been replaced with the mini markers listed here:
Now here is my problem. Somtimes the left blinker blinks (rarely)and somtimes it comes on and doesnt blink (most of the time), youpush the signal button and the blinkers both come on and thesignal bulbsjust stay lit, and then shut back off. Here is the weird part. 9 times outta 10, if the bike is started and I press the button theydo not blink they stay lit. And 9 outta 10 times if the bike is off (ignition on), the light will blink. I just dont get it. I would appreciate all help. Thanks
Did you check your blinker fluid levels? You may be down a quart.Sorry, I had to do it! I have nothing constructive to say here but you get a free bump out of it.
Groundings seem good, bulbs are all new and in very well. The blinker fluid was a touch low but not enough to effect them I dont think, (hehe)
I thinking either signal module, or maybe its in the switch, or somthing, I dunno.
Your link indicates that the front signals have two bulbs each, that means on each circut you have unequal load front to rear. I would think you may need what I think is called a load equalizer such as the type you use when installing LED signals.
Try removing one of the two bulbs in the front signal and see what happens, if the problem continues I am wrong, if it works normally you need the equalizer.
Hmmmmmmmmm, near as I can tell, there are two bulbs in each light, Correct? That being the case, each light will need it's own ground wire, if not, you are effectively suppling 6 volts to each light and not 12. I fyou remove one bulb and the problem goes away, the Equalizer still will not cure the problem that you may have with the single ground.
