Default Replacement bolts

I have a 2000 883 sportster. I want to eliminate the mid foot peg bracket on the primary side. Can anyone tell me the specifications for replacement bolts that are on the bottom of the primary when the bracket is removed. My local H.D. dealership had no clue. They told me to go to home depot and find bolts there.

It looks like the 2000 models with your controls (XL1200, XL1200S, XL883, XL883HUG) use this part number
879A SCREW 5/16-18 X 3-1/2" knurled head (Grade 8)

It looks like the models with forward controls (XL1200C, XL883C) use these screws in the primary cover
897 SCREW 5/16-18 X 3.0" socket head (Grade 8)

Your dealer didnt know and suggested you go to Home Depot?

That’s f’d up man!

Find another dealer or that employee is lazy as f***. Sorry for the cussing but that’s just ridiculous.

Thank you for the info and link. I think I will be referencing it a lot. Yes that is my typical experience at my local dealership.
