Easy to spend your money from here but, if it was me after the initial fluid drain/flush & carb work is done I suggest saving some grief and potential fire hazard and buying a complete new harness
IIRC the voltage regulator can be cross referenced to a VW Beetle for big savings

32-9074 dosent fit the 65 xlch 900.

You might be able to get some resources from Wheels Through Time in Maggie Valley, NC.
