First off I am sorry if I say this wrong I am a new rider and learning new things.
I have a 2021 IRON 883 that I installed a engine / crash bar on. I had to lower the upper tie link about 1/4 - 1/2 inch to get the bar to fit. What I am wondering is if that will cause any issues with the motorcycle or engine? Basically I had to put the bar mount above the upper tie link mount (hope this make sense and I am saying correctly). Thank you in advance.
I will be honest as I did get it off Ebay so it is a knockoff. I am guessing it would be better to go more expensive and get through Harley then. I am a new rider and just trying to save the new motorcycle from damage as much as I can LOL.

What about engines guards - better to take original or from good 3rd party brands.
Backrests and luggage equipment - original, or 3rd party custom stuff, or some decent knock-offs (they are not very cheap, but cheaper than original).
Air cleaners, exhaust - no knockoffs.

Hey Peter, first off, welcome! And yes I get saving cash. You're right thinking now about a higher quality bar. Maybe look for a used HD take-off engine guard; much better quality/strength. Linby is a top 3rd-party company. I found a Linbar on Craigslist for a song. https://www.lindbycustom.com/

Thank you so much I will take a look at this and get something ordered that is a little more trusted and fit properly.
At a time like this and I made the same comment to a guy, all of the HD stuff I have bought comes with everything needed and fits without having to finesse anything to do it.
Not saying that all eBay sellers have junk but I've gotten some stuff from eBay that went pretty much straight to the recyclers (supposedly new parts had rust, casting flash, and other flaws). I've since found Eagleskull (https://eagleskull.com). They told me that they get their stuff from the same manufacturers that HD use. Everything I've gotten from them has been as good as the stuff I've gotten from HD, and it costs less.
I can definitely recommend them.
Also consider DK. They are one of the sponsors of this forum and not only are their products good, their customer service is great.
