I had a flashy chrome cover over my taillight and it's gone after yesterday's ride. It was attached by the same screws as the taillight. One screw is missing and the screw hole is wallowed out so I can't simply replace the screw. Problem is the taillight is loose and I really don't wanna lose that. Any ideas or suggestions on how to fasten it? Homemade brackets maybe?
How about replacing the worn parts with new or try using a big ugly self tapping sheet metal screw? If you go with big and ugly try not to crack the plastic.

That's the problem, the taillight won't accept a screw large enough to fit the hole
From the under side of the fender hold a washer then use a rivit catching the washer.
only issuer doing it this way is if the bulb needs changing the rivit will need to be drilled out
But it is a 2 min fix
