Tail light issue concerning relocation kit

Hi, my 2012 sportster seventy-two is currently being serviced, but also I wanted them to take a look at and fix my rear tail light which has part of the threaded bolt broken off inside of it so it can't be screwed back on. Harley said it will cost like $600 to fix because they have to put on a whole new relocation kit. I said, can't you just pull the bolt out and put another one in? They said it's not exactly a bolt, it's attached to the relocation kit and there aren't replacement parts for it. "only solution is to buy and install a whole new kit which involves removing the whole back end." I'm already spending a chunk of change on my 30,000 mile service, oil drainage tubing and new tire, so I told the guy I just can't afford that right now and he suggested maybe taking it somewhere to get welded, Harley just can't offer to do something like that because it's not the "right way." So i guess i have a couple questions. 1, if i take it somewhere to get welded, i most likely have to disconnect the light from the wire so the guy can get in there to weld without hitting the electrical, but how would i do that? 2. anyone have any better ideas other than welding? lol. here is the relocation kit i'm dealing with.
