For the US, Australia, California and India just in the mufflers.
From the price of the header pipe it looks like Asia, England, HDI and Japan may also have CATs in the header pipe.
in that case if I go to my dealer with different slip on mufflers without cats in them what would be voided? Just my exhaust system or the whole bike?
Good question, I suppose they could as you would have modified the emission system(s) which got HD in hot water with the EPA. Usually it is voided for reflashing the ECM, I guess it would up to the dealer whether they would let it slide or not for aftermarket mufflers.
My understanding is you could/would only lose the power train part of the warranty.
I don't get these differences. As shanneba pointed out the cats on my bike are in the headers.
My '17 had them in the mufflers. Don't quote me as I may be wrong on the year but it seems HD moved them from the headpipes to the mufflers around '12???
H-D changed the position of the Sportsters catalytic converter on UK exhaust systems from the mufflers to the header pipes for the 2014 model year. The interconnection linkages were also changed from the mufflers to the headers at the same time.
I installed Python 2.5" slip-on mufflers on my 2011 XL883N, so my Sportster no longer has cat's fitted.
