Don't think it does. The new chrome hardware kit I got has that yellow thread locking coating HD seems to put on all accessory hardware.

My apologies I certainly did not mean to mislead you.

Not looking to start any arguments over this
Hey all good here and didn't think we were arguing.

I looked up the screw on the engine and saw it was grade 8 and just posted that up. After that or rather before that just posting my own experiences.

I have had the top off the rear pot here on a 2008 and would almost certainly of used the numbers from the manual when putting it back together.

The new chrome hardware kit I got has that yellow thread locking coating HD seems to put on all accessory hardware.
The technical term is lock patch. I have also seen blue.

No problem, I didn't think you were, just making sure it was clear to everyone I was just replacing the covers and not covers and rockerboxes.

That comment wasn't directed at you or anyone in particular. Just sometimes it seems some will pop into a thread just to argue about stuff. All's good on my end!

It's funny I just happened to be doing gaskets on a guys 1997 sportster. On covers like that I stay at the low end of the scale. Just seems excessive, especially on something you can get to so easily if you needed to add a little extra. I'd rather have a little leak and have to re-tighten something than to bust a bolt off inside the engine case somewhere...that'll ruin your whole day

I agree. I just hand tightened my cover bolts, no leaks. I really don't trust these tiny inch-pound or foot-pound specs. A gentle snug, then a bit more if you have any leaks. So far, I can't recall ever breaking off a bolt, nor dealing with a leak. Now, some of the oil drain plugs I've seen on many bikes is another story, seems the previous owners think 1000 foot pounds on a drain plug is necessary. Ridiculous.

I had a little Honda that the drain plug could be done up literally finger tight but come the oil change time it was unreal how that thing was so tight.
