Having trouble with installing compu fire ignition on a 2001 sportster 883. This is how far I have gotten. Also, I'm new to the forum as far as posting so I apologize if this wasn't the right place to ask for help. Am I supposed to remove this and install the trigger rotor here?
NO, that's the camshaft where the trigger gets bolted to. Ya just gotta read carefully and follow the instructions. Refer to the diagrams as you go through each step. Gotta Static Time it using the timing marks on the flywheel first to get the trigger mounted correctly, vs 180 degrees off. THAT is VERY IMPORTANT!!!!
Per figure #4, of instructions, your new trigger rotor mounts here.
so I'm replacing the factory rotor with the trigger mechanism? Got it. Now how the hell the trigger mechanism bolt down? These instructions aren't very clear.
