I have also fitted other genuine H-D engine styling covers on my Iron 883, they are they upper primary drive cover cylinder base cover, starter motor cover and cam lifter blocks cover. I installed them in February 2012 and I've never had an issue with any of them in over nine years.

My opinion is, if you like the look that of any of H-D's genuine styling accessories will give your Sportster, go ahead and buy them, they fit first time and they come with full installation instructions. There will always be doubters who see their glass as half empty rather than half full.

Ok, well if this (61400176) is the part number, I dont see any text referring to cooling advantages in either
the Description or in the Instructions...

https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...dge/p/61400176

Oh well, no big deal.

Nope.
The Silver head-bolt bridge kit part # is 44424-04. I have a set, new, in the original package, I bought around 2007 from a dealership. It says, "Fits 2004 XL".
Fitment descriptions on sellers' sites vary, a little. Some claiming 2004-2013. Some, 2004-2017. I'm uncertain why they wouldn't fit up to 2021, unless the head bolts changed in 2013 or 2017.
They're for sale, all over the interwebs, including FleaBay. They match the "blonde" engine. The Silver version does not have highlighted (polished) fin edges. They do have the Bar-and-Shield emblem. The silver color would stand out like a sore thumb on the medium-gray engines used on the Nightster, unless you PAINTED THEM to match.
My '05 has the chrome covers, as depicted in post # 2, by RKZen. My OL's 2004 1200C, had the black highlighted version. They looked very, very nice. We sold that bike in 2012, without ever having a heat issue in over 50k miles. I never considered the air-flow effect, of either kits. From a curiosity standpoint, I look forward to mkayx findings. No BS. No slight intended. No animosity. I'm genuinely interested, but I do like the looks, regardless.
Standing by for the next 120 degree day, and the results. By the way, is "120" in Celsius? "Buckeye", as In Ohio?
Also, are you measuring the heads, jugs, engine oil, or engine case? Infrared thermometer? Has it been calibrated?
This thread, shall not die.
