I don't have the finned, but the chrome headbolt covers. Personal choice if you want the finned to blend in more with the motor or chrome to be noticeable. I personally like them, as I wanted something to cover that space and the plugs.

the finned are said too cool better.
Before i order them (currently out of stock) i want opinions then i will order them and see since i can check the engine temp on my pv
I had a set of the finned covers on the bike, they do a nice job of filling in the gap in the fins around the spark plugs. Kind of gave the look of a radial aircraft engine jug IMO. FYI, if you're looking for a set in silver you are SOL as far as the HD part. HD sells them in black but dropped the silver set. My find some knockoffs on ebay.
I ended up going with more bling and now have the chrome set like RKZen has on his bike.

I have the H-D un-highlighted black finned head bolt bridges on my 2011 Iron 883, sorry it's not a 1200. I installed them over nine years ago and they've been on ever since. I think they suit the heads well and they cover up the chrome head bolts to give a cleaner more finished look, they have the bar & shield logo engraved on them too. I've attached an old photo of my Iron with the bridges installed, sorry about the poor quality of the photo.
The bridges are secured to the cylinder head bolts by using two grub screws and a cap head screw on each bolt, the whole kit comes with the required allen wrenches and it can be installed in about five to ten minutes.
Here are H-D stock images of both the highlighted version (H-D part # 44296-04)and un-highlighted version (H-D part # 61400176. They are quite expensive here in the UK at slightly under Ł60. Aftermarket suppliers have them without the bar & shield logo at a more affordable Ł25.
Just an opinion so take it for what its worth...
I think these block cooling airflow through the heads, so I
choose not to use them. But, to each their own....

He did ask for peoples thoughts on the finned head bolt bridges, so I told him what my thoughts on them are. You chose not to use them which is entirely up to you. I don't think for one minute that H-D would sell any product that's liable to make customers machines overheat and damage them, H-D would be all too worried about customers with heat damaged motors suing them for all they can get, especially in the USA, the suing capital of the world.
I suspect it's hot in Texas and motors could overheat, I live in the Yorkshire Pennine Hills where it's bloody cold for ten months of the year, I've had no problem with my motor overheating in ten years.
