Hey what's going on guys I'm new here an not sure If in posting in the right place but I changed my oil on my 2021 iron 883 a couple days ago and after watching a few videos realized it ain't **** to change my primary
Its a brand new engine so I was going to switch to synthetic next change and told the guy at the bike shop this and he sold me a quart of Lucas 20-50 for a wet clutch I didn't think anything of it and just put it in not realizing it's synthetic while the engine oil is SAE now I'm scared to start if up
Please help?????!!!!??
There are separate oiling systems on the Sporster. Engine oil, in the oil tank. Primary drive chain, clutch hub assembly, and transmission oiled in the primary chaincase. One quart in the primary chaincase, and ~2.5 quarts in the oil tank. Buy yourself a Factory Service Manual, so you can always check what service procedures are correct for your bike.
No issue using 20/50 synthetic if rated for wet clutches. There are many oils out there to choose from, all likely serviceable for our needs. Mobil 1 75W90 gear oil, Bel Ray STL (my choice), Golden Spectro STL, 20W50 motor oil (not my choice, but HD says okay), even ATF! All seem to be used in the Sportster primary case. Just don't put gear oil in your engine oil tank.
Good luck, and welcome!

Does your **** youtube videos cover the full list of items that need checking out after the first 1000 miles?
Do yourself a big favour and get a service manual. I have seen several 'tube videos that are not actually suitable for your bike even though they are Sportsters.
Definitely a recipe for disaster. A couple of revs and shell blow the heads completely off. Look for a strap to tie over the top of the engine like the top fuel bikes use. You do not want a piston to take out your jugular.
