After two weeks on the stock seat on my '07 1200 Custom I put on a Sundowner. Best thing I could have done. I didn't think the stock seat was uncomfortable, and I got the new one only for my wife who hated the stockseat. The Sundowner made a night and day difference for me.I haveno issues with it. I'm a bit under 5' 6" with a 29" inseam and I have no trouble with the height. No slidingforward, either. Ugly? Maybe, but do I care? I don't spend much time off the bikejust lookingat it, and when I'mriding the bikeI can't see the seat.
Stock was not bad for me as long as I did not ride long. Had a Mustang vintage seat for about 8000 miles or so which was nice but the Mrs. hated the comfort of the pillion so we got a SD. SD is great, does not sit up much higher than stock and I actually find it better than the Mustang.
Got mine through www.zanottimotor.com for $198. Granted I dont like the looks but I generally only use the seat when doing long rides or have the wife or travel bagon board.
Todd, I LOVE my Sundownerseat!! I hated the stocker! For some reason the stocker would make myleft leg and "cheek"go to sleep.... which makes shifting and coming to a safe stop a little tough, (hard to balance a bike when you can't feel your leg). Probably the best money I've spend on an upgrade so far.
yep I got one and it is butt ugly , and the most comfortable seat I have never had a slide forward problem but my bike is a roadster with mid mount pegs. you wont be sorry .
I oculd never go back to the stock piece of lumber they call a seat after riding with my Sundowner. Yes, it does kinda' look like a turd, but it grows on you after a while. It will push forward a bit and it will force you to adopt a slightly leaned back riding position. When I'm out on the interstate with my feet up on my Lindby multibarsI don't think theres a more comfortable, laid back riding position possible for my bike. That's just my 2 cents.
I guess since I do have the Custom with forward controls & the big tank, plus my bike is black so to me it blends nice and I really don't slide anywhere on it,I kinda sit pretty perfect on it really IMO. It does look like I have a couch on there but not an ugly 1. It did look horrid on my buds 1200 2-tone gold/black custom, that's why I got a great deal though[8D]I sold my stocker for $10 more than I paid for it
The Sundowner is as comfortable as a cloud... It is .... no doubt ... the best thing going..... And if I ever buy one I will punch myself directly in the face.... Because it looks like ridiculously too huge for a motorcycle... But if I wasn't such a vain SOB I would get one [8D]
