I had posted the question of changing the exaust on my 2007 XL883L (EFI). Didn't get a whole lot of replies because it was new and no one knew what it would do to the performance. Weather it needed to be remapped and so on. So I went ahead and bought cycle shack slip-ons and put them on. My stock sporster sounded factory like a sowing machine. Now it sounds like a real Harley! For $155.00 and a hour of my time I would recommend them to any one. No change in performance and seems to run a little cooler.
I have them on my 08 1200C as well, got them for $126 shipped from Jireh Cycles. I got the turnout ones. I love the tone and I had no change in performance either. They're a little louder than I expected and I'm definately not complaining about that .
Cycle Shack slip-ons are a good deal! I had a pair on mine but there was a harmonic sound at 55-60 mph that drove me nuts, so I replaced them with a pair of SE II's (for a whole lot more money) and they're a little deeper in soundwith no annoying harmonics to my ears. Other than that annoying harmonic, I really liked the Cycle Shacks. Probably just my ears from listening to all that early rock music 50 years ago!
How loud are they? I am looking at SEII or Cycle Shacks... Are they wake the neighbors - set off car alarms loud?
Dave
They are loud. ...and mineseem evenlouder now that I got the rest of the Stage 1 done. Weird thing is is that I have never setcar alarms off. I had drilled the baffleson my old Suzuki and I set alarms off all the time. The CS's are definitely much louder (andhave a deeper tone) but they don't set the alarms off. I love the looks of my baloney slice...
There has been quite a bit of discussion on whether or not you should have the EFI retuned. After I changed my pipes, the spark plugs were a little white.Of course I didn't look at them before when I had stock pipes and I haven't looked at them since I had my EFI remapped. So who cares.....I guess I don't.(actually, I really do care)
