09 Nightster Ignition issues
Here is the situation, Bought the bike used. has aftermarkey ignition and coil pack relocation kit on it. A friend was riding it and the key fell out of the ignition. The bike sat all night until the headlight killed the battery. I ordered a new ignition switch and replaced the old one with the missing key. Now when you turn the key on the headlights come on, the fuel pump turns on, but when you hit the start button nothing happens.
I tried replacing the starter relay, and the system relay to no avail.
Could the coil packs have gone bad by sitting with the ignition on all night? Does the bike require continuity through the coil packs to even turn over the starter?
There are a few error codes showing in the odometer. The red key keeps showing up on the odometer also.
any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it were to happen again just pull the main fuse (maxi fuse).
Give us the list of codes you have.
Have you recharged the battery and is it holding the charge? Get it tested. Batteries don't like taking to very low voltages.

The ignition coils have nothing to do with the starter not cranking the engine.

When you state after-market ignition do you mean key lock or something that causes the engine to fire.
