Just wanted to say hello. I'm new to the biker family, the HD family, and this forum. I bought a 2006 Sportster XL 883 about a month and a half ago, and I love it. Put about 600 miles on it since the day I got it. I don't get to drive it as much as I would like because I work 2 jobs and my second requires me to wear a suit, and I don't really want to wear a suit on the Harley, but I will if I have to.
Anything I need to look out for while I've got the bike? Any tips/tricks I can do for cheap? I've put on a lot of the skull accessories: grips, pegs, brake, mirrors, gas cap, and filter box.
Welcome to the Forum. Sounds like you are on your way with the accessories. The things that you will need to watch the most is CARS. Also you may notice that the amount of green in your wallet will be reduced to next to nothing.
buying the bike is like 40% of the entire sale and the other 60% is accesories.ride like you have a bullseye on your back and the cages are the arrows/bullets.cause they're aiming for us.!!
lol, thanks Terry. Yeah I've already noticed that green stuff is diminishing, lol. Jeff when I bought the bike, they handed me the big accessory book and said "the bike is a down payment on this book" I laughed and shrugged it off, but now I've come to understand it
Congrats on the new scoot, Harley just hooked me up with an 06 1200c - long story. Love the bike and you may end up with a third job "accesorizing" - I myself, just spent the last couple of days with a stack of "post-it notes" going through the catalog of love - time for a second morgage
Welcome!! Before your green all fades, invest in a couple of essential accessories: A good gym bag, and some bungies. Stuff the suit (neatly folded off course) into the gym bag. Strap it to the bike. Ride the bike everywhere. Change at work, and let 'em wonder. Enjoy the ride!
Thanks everyone. I know I know. I've taken some pics, but they are still loaded in my camera. My compter here at work doesn't have a card reader, so I'll have to upload them at home. Hey BikerInTheDesert, I wonder how wrinkled the suit would be in the bag?
Welcome to the forum. As everyone has informed you and you are beginning to learn for yourself, there is no end. Why do you think they call the place were you bought it the "Dealer"? I have bought about 75% of what I thought you can put on a Sporty and I see no end to it now , everytime I look at the bike or the book I see something else!
Enjoy!!
