Hello all from England,
Im a new member on here I got my bike licence last Monday and have bought myself a 1200 Sportster as my introduction to the Harley Davidson family.
The thing I need help with is, when I took the bike for a test ride I got back to the guy's house and I had difficulty selecting neutral in the gearbox. Is this normal ? the bike is a 1991 model that has covered 21k miles.
Thanks in advance, I will look forward to your replies.
Kindest Regards
Jonathan

1st: Welcome from the colonies.
2nd: Given the assumption your transmission is ok.. They can be a little tricky finding neutral, but sometimes I'll rock mine back and forth a little and that helps.. It's a "feature" hehe. But if it's extremely difficult to find N, check your fluid, quantity and quality.. Give it a fluid change if needed, and retry.. If no good result, I'd have a mechanic take a peek at it.
That sound like good advice I will try that and if I dont have any joy I will have somone take a look at it.
I dont collect it until this Sunday and I cant wait.
Hello,
North Lincolnshire here. Just a thought, what did you take your test on? If it was anything Japanese (apart from a pre96 TDM 850) the gearbox will be a lot smoother and neutral easy to find compared with the Sporty.
