I don't like the idea of banging into gear.
As a newbie to the world of HD and Sportsters these things don't like gently pressing the gear lever down to select first gear as the first shift of the day in my experience. Get it over and done with as quickly as possible and even then I am met with a resounding clunk when it goes into gear.

With the engine off and in gear, by rocking hard backward and forward it might free the plates.

Proper clutch adjustment isn't done just at the cable. That only changes the free play in the lever. You also need to adjust the clutch rod behind the derby cover. BTW. Lots of people experience trouble getting good clutch adjustment and difficulty finding Neutral after installing those Clutchlite things. Good luck with it.

Yeah I thought about it too... the Easy clutch thing - the disk (in the picture above) has these grooves which are longer than the grooves in the original disk - that is the key to easier pull, BUT I suspect a longer pull. So yes, adjustment is needed which is different than the original's. When screwing in (counter clock wise) that center screw till there's resistance/tightness, instead of the official 1/4 turn to the right, I will probably do 1/8 and go from there. That should keep those 2 disk closer and it will require longer pull of the cable, but there should be room.

I have like 2 other things going on - I'm sure you guys have seen my other thread, but today I'll play mechanic and hoping that by EOD I will have a running bike!

I installed one (Clutchlite) on my '05, as the stock pull was pretty stiff. It works as advertised, but engagement occurs as soon as the lever leaves the bar: Took some getting used to. Some say that using synthetic oil in the tranny will lessen the tendency of the clutch plates to stick together.

I have fitted the clutchlite in a 2008 and the adjustment is the same as HD prescribe.

It was described to me if you take a look at how the clutch release mechanism works as the plates wear so the adjuster screw needs to be backed off, turned anti clockwise. If you don't back it off the plates will start to slip.

I readjusted the clutch as I described above and it seems fine with the engine running and all.
Thank you for your help gents!
