Default Adjusting the Clutch Cable

So I replaced this piece to improve the clutch lever action (as it was just unbelievably hard to pull) along with a new cable.

I dry tested it by shifting to first gear with the engine off and when I squeeze the lever it won't disengage ie the bike won't go if I push it. I've removed all the cable slack
Thoughts?

First thought is a bike clutch doesn't seem to disengage like a car clutch does, they always have a certain amount of drag when cold.

Is the lever feel similar to how it was but a little lighter on the pull now?

How did you adjust the clutch?

Yes the lever feels similar but lighter. I didn't really adjust the clutch (yet) just removed the cable slack
Unless I misunderstood your question

Then I think you need to go through the proper procedure to adjust the clutch just to make sure it is where it should be.

Ah yes I did adjust the clutch per instructions from a few youtube vids (all described the same). You know, turn the screw counter clock wise until there's tension and then go back a quarter of turn.

By removing the slack of the cable I meant there's no slack in the lever, but there's certainly room to tighten the cable some more. I'm just used to about 1-2mm of slack as a personal preference.

Any recommendations on how to safely do this? I was thinking of shifting into 1st while the engine is idling, and possibly with the front facing my garage wall? (this part is funny)

I don't like the idea of banging into gear. How about getting the bike moving forward then shift into first?

Your clutch plates probably are stuck, which is why you can't roll the bike. Start it in neutral, let if run a couple minutes, and then try to disengage the clutch and shift into first.
